FCKeditor Toolbar Quick Reference

This WYSIWYG editor allows the user to build HTML-encoded pages without knowing HTML. The FCKeditor toolbar (Fig. 1) includes tools to insert, format and/or edit text, bulleted and numbered lists, hypertext links, anchors, images, special symbols, and tables. FCKeditor buttons: bold, italics, underline, and strikeout text. Bold, Italics, Underline, Strikeout – format the selected text (Bold, Italics, Underline, Strikeout).

Left Justify, Center Justify, Right Justify – set the text alignment.

 Insert/Remove Bulleted, Numbered Lists – create a bulleted or numbered list (close the list by hitting Enter on the keyboard twice); convert selected lines of text, separated by paragraph- or line breaks, to a bulleted or numbered list; convert a selected list to lines separated by paragraph breaks.

 Decrease Indent, Increase Indent – decrease or increase the indentation of selected content.

 Undo, Redo – undo/redo action.

 Insert/Edit Link, Remove Link, Insert/Edit Anchor – insert, edit, or remove hypertext links and anchors. Convert selected text to hypertext links or anchors.

 Insert/Edit Image – insert an image at the cursor location, or edit the selected image.

 Text Color , Background Color – change the color of the selected text or its background.

 Superscript, Subscript – superscript or subscript the selected text.

 Blockquote – format a block of text to identify quotations.

 Source – display the document as raw HTML code.

 Insert Horizontal Line – insert a horizontal rule on a new line.

 Cut, Copy, Paste as plain text – cut or copy selected content to the clipboard; paste the contents of the clipboard to the cursor location as plain text (i.e., without formatting). Note that when pasting from word processing documents and other files, paragraph breaks may be converted into line breaks; these will have to be replaced with pragraph breaks to allow other formatting features to work properly.

 Show Blocks – show the block elements boundaries in the text.

 Remove Format – remove formatting from the selected text.

 Insert Special Character – insert symbols or special character at the cursor location.

 Format – apply standard formatting styles (Normal text, Heading 2, Heading 3) to the selected content from a drop down menu.

 Insert/Edit Table – insert or edit a table. Open the Table Properties window and specify numbers of rows and columns, table width and alignment, border style, cell spacing and padding, and table caption.

 Find, Replace – find or replace a specified word or phrase in the document.

 Select All – select all of the contents of the editor window.

 Maximize the editor size – maximize the editor size inside the browser window.

 Check Spelling – check spelling of the contents of the editor window.

 Cell Properties – open the Cell Properties window to edit properties of the selected cell (cell width and height; text wrapping and alignment; colors; column- and row spanning) in a table.

 Insert Row, Column, or Cell After – a insert a row, column, or cell after the cursor location in a table.

 Delete Row, Column, or Cell – delete the selected row, column, or cell in a table.

Merge Cells – merge the selected cells in a table into one.

 TableHorizontalSplitCell – split the selected cell in a table into two columns.
