eXtension article creation workflow
Some updates were made to the way eXtension articles are created on PBGworks. Part of this was removing the "Members" menu item that was on the left side of the screen when logged in. The "member list" list now found at the menu across the top of the website. This is viewable by the general public (folks not logged in) so make sure you update your profiles!
A new "eXtension" menu now lives at the top left part of the screen when logged in. However, when you are in your group wiki, the group wiki menu will magically appear and bump this one down until you navigate away from the group wiki you are in.
In this new menu are three links. The first is a Add new article link. This takes you to a page and asks you which kind of article do you want to create: Potato, Tomato, or Barley. We can add new types as new CAPs come on board. The second link is where you find the articles once they are created, eXtension article list. This section will be mirrored over on extension.org once the Plant Breeding and Genomics CoP goes live. You can navigate this section by choosing which crop you are interested in, or find an index list of all technology categories. That list contains all articles within that technology regardless of crop.
This is a completely dynamic system so once you create the article is will show up in the article lists. One article can show up under many technology categories at one time, think of it as being able to cross-list the same article. Visitors to the site will find lists of technology categories that actually hold articles. If there is no article in a particular category, that option will not be offered to the website visitor as a link.
Barley articles have an additional layer of navigation added. Those articles can also be found by type of information as well as the technology category. To see the full list of Barley "Resource Types" follow the links to create a new Barley article and you will see them listed in a drop down menu on the form.
This system is brand new and can be changed. Please weigh in on this if you have suggestions/comments/feedback.
