New help item about using Images
I added two new help items today regarding Image handling on PBGworks. There are two distict ways to handle images and at first thought you might think that they can be combined, but they remain separate. The issue is that there is not an easy way to get an image that is in one of the galleries onto a new or existing page on the website.
The image galleries are specifically designed to share images with other members or the web as a distict content type. It is about having a repository for images that your group can locate or discuss, since images allow registered members to leave comments on them. These images are in a way walled off from other content types on the website. To add an image to a group wiki page or an article, that image must be uploaded by you to your personal file space. If there is an image in the gallery that you want to use you can right-click on it and download it just like most images on the web. But there is that extra step of having to download it first and then reupload it.
The way these modules for Drupal handle images is not very satisfactory and perhaps a better contributed module will come along to help place images on pages that are in galleries in a nice fashion. We'll have to wait and see.
