New Group Home Pages for PBGworks
Group home pages have been given a makeover on PBGworks. Here's a short video about the changes.
New Layout
All the content that was on the group home pages before is still there, just in new locations. First, you'll notice that all the menus are on the right side of the screen. This allows us to maximize the space in the middle of the page giving a less cluttered appearence. Second, you can now see a list of the pages in the Group wiki. Before you had to click a link to visit the group wiki to see the pages, but now it is all right there on the group home page. To view "child pages" you will have to first click on the "parent" page to find them. There is a little arrow next to the Group wiki pages that have child pages. Other small changes include better information about Recent Activity, and the affiliations of members listed on the Group home page. Scroll to the bottom to see the members of a group.
New Way to Add Content
All content is now added to a group through the "Add group content" menu located at the top right of the page. When you add content with these links it automatically adds your group to the "Audience", a step that you previously had to do yourself. This menu will also appear you when viewing any page that is posted to a group. If you hover over a link in the menu, say "eXtension article," a description of that content type will appear. There is also a "Switch group" link to help you find your other groups quickly. This page is also accessible by clicking "My groups" in the menu links under your Username. If you visit a group that you are not a member of, the Add group content menu will have a link for you to join the group.
Other changes
This release also brings with it some changes to the appearance of menus; they now have a gray background to the menu titles and some new borders. The group name banners also have a drop shadow for those that are using the latest web browsers. If you don't see the drop shadow it is time to upgrade!
